Manipur Pradesh Congress Seva Dal observed the 35 th Death Anniversary of Seva Dal founder Dr N S Hardikar at Manipur Pradesh Congress Bhavan today.
In a press release, Office Secretary, Manipur Pradesh Congress Seva Dal, Netrajit Laishram informed that President, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) Gaikhangam attended the function as chief guest.
Rich Floral tributes were offered to the photo of Dr N S Hardikar.
The press release stated that Narayan Subbarao Hardiker was born on March 7, 1889 in Tilvalli Hangal Taluq, Dharwad district, Karnataka.
In middle of 1923, Dr NS Hardiker was arrested along with hundreds of volunteers in Nagpur Flag Satyagraha.
When he saw how badly his people needed training in discipline and team work for the freedom movement he conceived the idea of Hindustani Seva Dal.
Thus he founded the Seva Dal on December 17, 1923 with Pandit Nehru as President and himself as General Secretary said the press release.
The press release further said that in July 1931, Gandhi recognized the splendid work done by Seva Dal workers and asked Dr Hardiker to merge Hindustani Seva Dal into the congress.
Dr SN Hardikar passed away on August 26, 1975 at Ghataprabha said the press release.
