Visiting Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court, Madal B Lukur today said that he has been in the state to assess the judiciary service in the state and to take stock whether people are getting benefit of the judiciary service.
Speaking at a felicitation function held at Patkai Christian Academy at Changphung in Ukhrul during his visit at the Ukhrul Court Complex, the Chief Justice said that he is coming to the state to inspect lower courts in the districts of the state as administrative head of judiciary of the region.
The Chief Justice during his visit at the court complex at Ukhrul district received a memorandum submitted by Ukhrul District Lawyers' Association.
The memorandum demanded setting up of a district and session judge court which will have the power of a special and tribunal and devolution of power of dealing criminal and civil judge to the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Ukhrul among others.
In visit at Ukhrul, Chief Justice was accompanied by Advocate General of Manipur, N Koteshwor, Registrar of Gauhati High Court, Imphal Bench, Ng Max Phajang, District and Session Judge, Manipur East, Th Surbala and Deputy Registrar, Rojit and others.
The Chief Justice held a round of meeting with CJM, Th Saimon and Civil Judge (Junior Division) K Premila and discussed on the problems facing in the working of the court in the district.
He also inspected the condition of the CJM court complex.
