International film festival kicks off

Re-Play 2012, an International film festival has been inaugurated at Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy today.
Being organised by Huntre International Manipuri Project in association with Manipur Film Development Cooperation, the inaugural function was graced by Governor Gurubachan Jagat as chief guest.
The function also felicitated dance workshop conductor Yoshiko Chuma, screen writing workshop conductor Alexandra Viets, film festival conductor Yogjakarta and film maker Andibachtiar Yusuf.
Speaking at the occasion, the Governor appreciated the Huntre and other Manipuri film organisations for organising the festival for the second time in the State.
He said that the festival would give a chance to understand the trend of film making, its nature and forms which are adopted in other countries of the world.
It would also give the film makers of the State to discuss on the required steps to promote the film industry in the State, he added.
Two different workshops on documenting dance and screenplay would be conducted during the festival in which Yoshiko Chuma and Alexandra Viets would be the resource persons of the workshops.
Governor further said that organising such workshops during the festival would enhance knowledge and skills of the local film makers.
The festival also created a room to showcase the rich cultures and traditions of the State to other foreign delegates, he added.
The film festival would be continued till January 15 .
