NAB destroys liquor

Imphal, January 11 2012:
Under the supervision of its officer in-charge Kh Birchandra, personnel of Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB) seized nearly 500 litres of country-made liquor from various places of the capital city today.
The seized liquor was destroyed by burning at the bank of Imphal river near Sanjenthong.
Teams of NAB reportedly seized the liquor during raids carried out at Andro Parking, Khuman Lampak bus parking, Nagamapal Punshi Keithel, Polo Ground, Khoyathong, Palace Gate and Chingmeirong Khongnang Ani Karak areas since early morning today.
The drive was specifically launched ahead of the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly election.
Meanwhile, in a special drive launched to prevent unwanted incidents in the forthcoming elections, a team of Kangpokpi police station under the aegis of Senapati district police recovered 55 litres of local liquor and handed over to the Excise Department.
Police sources said that the liquor were recovered while frisking the Inter-State vehicles along NH 39.40 litres of local liquor were seized on January 4, 10 litres on January 6 and another five litres of liquor were seized today.
