No let up in bomb attacks, 1 hurt at Heirok

Bomb attacks carried on Congress candidates and workers still continue.
Heirok Mayai Leikai residence of MLA Moirangthem Oken, who is contesting the ensuing election under Congress in Heirok Assembly Constituency, has been attacked with a hand grenade yesterday evening around 7.15 .
The bomb which was suspected to be hurled by some unidentified persons exploded nearby the house of the MLA and injured one Moirangthem Rame (68) from Heirok Part II Pujari Leikai.
MLA Oken was not at his residence at the time of the incident.
The MLA's security guards also fired several shots in retaliation.
In connection with the incident, a meeting has been convened today at Heirok Part II Polo Ground wherein the attack was strongly condemned and dubbed as politically influenced.
The meeting also resolved to intensify the restriction which was imposed against UGs following the 2008 firing incident if concerned individuals or groups do not come up with a satisfactory explanation within five days.
Another bomb exploded at the residence of one Tongbram Yaima (65) at Sagolband Meino Leirak Maisnam Nongthonba Leikai today at about 7.45 pm.
Though some portions of the house were damaged no one was injured.
It is reported that the younger brother of Yaima, T Ruhina alias Apha (47) is an active worker of Congress MLA of Sagolband Dr Kh Loken.
Meanwhile, some unidentified persons attacked the residence of Waikhom Shyama Devi, a Congress candidate at Langthabal AC, by firing several shots today early morning around 1.30 .
In another incident, a hand grenade which failed to go off was also found at the courtyard of one Lairenjam Kumar (56) of Haobam Marak Irom Leikai at around 6.30 am today.
Kumar is an active Congress worker and his younger brother L Sur (47) was present as a nominee in the nomination papers of MLA RK Anand, who is contesting the election under Congress in Naoriya Pakhanglakpa Kendra.
Bomb expert team of Manipur police picked-up the bomb today morning.
A hand grenade was also found in the residence of RK Biren (58), EE DRDA Churachandpur at Nambol Thiyam Mayai Leikai at around 7.30 am today.
The grenade which failed to go off was picked-up by police.
Another hand grenade left at the residence of Congress candidate L Jayantakumar's supporter at Keishamthong Top Leirak was retrieved by police at about 8.40 pm today.
