Imphal, January 11 2012:
Bharatiya Janata Party, Manipur Pradesh has submitted a written intimation to the Chief Election Officer on January 10 demanding special measures required in Thoubal AC .
The application signed by National spokesperson and Election In-charge Manipur, Prakash Javedkar and other four Regional and State leaders of BJP demanded that the election control room of Thoubal AC should be opened round the clock.
The application alleged that the control room of the said AC is not functioning till date even though the DEO announced its opening from January 4 .
The party also urged the CEO to put security forces from outside the State in the constituency to maintain law and order till the election is over.
Highlighting non-provision of security to the BJP candidate of the AC, Oinam Indira Devi, BJP party further asked the authority concerned to provide central force team for her security instead of State force immediately.
As a peculiar constituency in which the Chief Minister is also contesting the election, it further demanded that polling machinery in all 37 polling booths of the constituency should be brought from outside the district.
Claiming that 19 polling booths out of 37 are extra sensitive, mechanisms such as outside security forces to manage the booths on polling day along with tight vigil among the voters by using videography should be set up in the said polling booths namely Booth No 1 to 14, 24 to 26, 35 and 37 .
The party also urged the CEO to verify the bogus voters and prevent them from voting.
