Imphal, January 04 2008:
Following instruction from the Government to leave, surrenderees demolished their quarters located at where the police dog squad was and left the place today.
But many of them were infuriated.
Speaking to reporters, the surrenderees who have been taking shelter there since 2000 said that one officer of Imphal Police came there this morning and asked them to vacate the place.
|
The police officer reportedly told them to leave the place by tomorrow.
He said, "We don't care about your accommodation", conveyed the disappointed surrenderees.
Forty-seven surrenderees were absorbed in the State force in 2005 while 37 others were inducted as followers but the latter were not given any regular job.
Of the 37 surrenderees, 10 were taking shelter at the quarters where the dog squad was while the others were have been taking shelter in different post of State forces.
But two fell victim to the Ragailong blast.
Those who demolished their quarters today are those who have been absorbed in State forces.
But it remains a big question regarding shelter of the other surrenderees who have not been given any job, they asserted .
"If we are given jobs, we would willingly vacate the place.
We want a definite position of the Government whether the remaining surrenderees would be given Government jobs or nor", said one of them.
Even as the Government claims to have a surrenderee policy, most of the surrenderees don't get a single rupee from the Government except for the shelter provided at dog squad, said the surrenderees who have been left from induction in State forces.
