ON THE sixth day of the historic peace march of the Manipur Diaspora under the banner of the Manipur Levy 2008 was flagged off at 6.30 am today at Irang (Toubam village) .
Chairman of the village authority, R Kamei and Secretary, K Taluper flagged off the march.
Security personnel on NH 53 have been providing security protection to the marchers.
Residents of both sides of the highway greeted the marchers and extended solid cooperation.
According to convenor of the coordination committee of the peace march of the Manipuri Diaspora from Silchar to Imphal, Y Nabachandra, there are a few marchers who are facing pain in the feet, problems of fever and vomitting etc.
However, the marchers are now able to march fast with high spirit and many of them want to be in the lead of the march.
They can cover at least 40 to 45 kms per day.
There are about five men from Assam who are 55 years old.
The marchers so far have not faced any problem of meals and place for sleeping.
The marchers will hold at Tupul tonight and will arrive at Keithelmanbi tomorrow evening, Nabachandra informed.
