Imphal, January 04 2008:
Caught in the contradictory situation of the NSCN (IM)'s prohibition on movement of LPG tankers and the claim of the State Government that the NSCN (IM) has withdrawn its demand for godown tax, LPG transporters have appealed to the NSCN (IM) to clarify whether the State Government's claim is true or false.
A joint press release issued by the LPG transporters said that two tanker drivers have also been arrested by police on suspicion of having links with the NSCN (IM) .
On the other hand, the Government, authorities of the Sekmai Bottling Plant and the IOC have been exerting strong pressure on tanker owners and drivers to start transporting LPG.
Appealing to the NSCN (IM) to clarify whether its prohibition on movement of LPG tankers has been lifted or not within three/four days, the LPG tanker owners said that they would presume the prohibition has been lifted in case there is no clarification and as such they would be resuming their transport service.
