5 JD (U) MLAs join BJP

In an interesting poliitcal development, five MLAs of Janata Dal (United) in Manipur have switched allegiance to BJP.
The five JD-U MLAs who have joined the BJP are Thangmeiband AC MLA Kh Joykisan, Tipaimukh AC MLA Ngursanglur Sanate, Jiribam AC MLA Md Achab Uddin, Wangkhei AC MLA Thangjam Arunkumar and Churachandpur AC MLA LM Khaute.
Lilong AC MLA Md Abdul Nasir is now the only MLA of JD-U .
In a notification, Manipur Legislative Assembly Secretary K Meghajit Singh said that the merger of the five MLAs to the legislature party of BJP in the Manipur Legislative Assembly under the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution has been accepted.
otably, the Janata Dal-United (JD-U) State Unit decided to back out of the coalition Government led by Chief Minister N Biren in the State on August 29 after the party led by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar walked out of the NDA at the Centre.
The JD (U) here had earlier extended outside support to the BJP led Government.
