MP Sanajaoba urges SBI to open branch at Kakching Khunou

Highlighting the difficulties of people in accessing banking services, Rajya Sabha MP and titular king of Manipur Leishemba Sanajaoba has urged the State Bank of India (SBI) to open its branch at Kakching Khunou in Kakching district.
The MP wrote a letter to the chairman of SBI drawing his attention to inconveniences endured by the people of the area and urged to explore possibilities of opening a branch in the campus of Kakching Khunou College.
In the letter, the MP stated that the nearest bank to Kakching Khunou is at Kakching town at a distance of around 25 km.
There are several government institutions and offices like Kakching Khunou College, JNV Umathel, Wangoo High School, seven government schools, Waikhong police station, Langmeidong police outpost and an Assam Rifles unit in and around Kakching Khunou.
Setting up a bank branch in the area will faeilitate banking services to around 50,000 people living and working in areas under Kakching Khunou Municipal Council, Waikhong Thongjao GP, Pangaltabi GP and Arong Nongmaikhong GP among others, he elaborated.
The MP also pointed out employees, traders and common people are required to travel up to 25 to 30 km to get banking services in the absence of any bank branch in the nearby area and also proposed campus of Kakching Khunou College as a viable location for opening a branch of SBI.
