Senapati Police conducts 2nd Phase Field Survey of poppy fields

After destroying more than 60 acres of poppy cultivation in different locations of Senapati district in the last year as part of the "War on Drugs" campaign, Senapati District Police has carried out its 2nd Phase Field Survey of poppy fields.
The findings during the 2nd survey delighted the District Police as some of the Poppy fields were totally transformed and utilized for cultivation of vegetables on a large scale.
Expressing gratitude to the village chiefs and Village Authorities for co-operating with the fight against drugs, Senapati District SP, Karthik Malladi, IPS appealed to the public to promote such cultivation instead of poppy.
He also informed that during the last one year of exercise to identify & destroy Poppy plantations, Forest Department, volunteers and CSOs have strongly supported the "War on Drugs" mission initiated by Chief Minister N Biren Singh.
He also assured to continue the survey to destroy poppy cultivation.
It may be mentioned that a police team led by Inspector Dependson carried out a survey in Taphou Hill Range on Wednesday as part of the 2nd Phase Field Survey.
During the survey, it was found that most of the areas where poppy plantation was carried out earlier were now used for cultivation of vegetables like cabbage, beans, peas, maize & other seasonal crops.
