Imphal, October 07 2021:
The government's decision to hike the prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas (LPG) in the country, while the global oil price is just 81 US dollars per barrel, is an act of tormenting the people who are already reeling under the impact of Covid-19 pandemic, decried All Manipur Nupi Marup.
In a statement released by its secretary L Sumatibala, Nupi Marup observed that the price of petrol and diesel was hiked three times last week.
The price of LPG was hiked four times, from July to October, with an increase of Rs 90.Many poor families, especially the daily wage earners, are experiencing an increasing instance of domestic violence not only due to hike in price of LPG but also that of daily items, all because of PM Narendra Modi's move to please the corporate leaders.
Many others including the upper, middle class and general public are facing financial constraints while trying to fork out additional money for cooking gas.
Even the families of BJP workers have not been spared from this torment.
Thus, concerted efforts are needed to form a strong movement against such an anti-people government, it exhorted.
