DHS, Thoubal observes World No Tobacco Day

Thoubal, October 06 2022:
District Health Society, Thoubal on Thursday organised World No Tobacco Day at the Counting Hall of DC Complex under the global theme "Tobacco: Threat to our Environment".
Thoubal deputy commissioner A Subhash Singh, who is also chairperson of District Health Society, stressed that as tobacco is one of the leading causes of health complications in the world, effective prevention of such health hazardous substances will depend on creating mass awareness and strict enforcement of fines and penalties.
He then appealed to the departments concerned and law enforcing authority to take up concrete measures to prevent the sale of tobacco products in close proximity of schools, college campus as well as in offices.
The DC stated that the observance theme "Tobacco: Threat to our Environment" has been adopted to make the public aware about the ill-effects of tobacco products to health of people.
He also administered a pledge not to use or consume any of tobacco products'.
A PowerPoint presentation on the harmful effect of tobacco consumption was also presented to give awareness.
The programme was attended by Thoubal SP Jogeshchandra Haobijam, CMO Dr Y Nokul Singh, district hospital MS Dr S Bimola Kumari and Dr Ch Memcha Devi.
