NSUI extends support to 'Agnipath' protest

Imphal, June 18 2022:
The National Students' Union of India (NSUI) has announced Nationwide protests, endorsed their support to peaceful protests in connection with the controversial Agnipath scheme and urged aspirants not to indulge in violent measures.
A statement from National Students' Union of India, Manipur has shared that the student wing of the NSUI extends its support to the protesting students.
It added that national president Neeraj Kundan also tweeted an appeal to students urging them to protest peacefully while announcing that NSUI will raise the issue through Sainik Satyagraha nationally against the Government's decision.
In his statement, Neeraj Kundan criticised the Government for taking decisions and making schemes without consulting the interested parties.
He also urged the Government to rethink the length of service and provision of no pension for those released early among others.
He further said that students had already been embroiled in protests to demand army common entrance tests which have been pending since 2019.But due to the age restriction of the Agnipath scheme, lakhs of students have become ineligible to apply for the scheme, he said.
He assured that NSUI will go to every city in the country to stand with these students.
Lastly, he said that mobile numbers will be issued to get in touch with the protesting students to raise their voices in Parliament and in the court as well.
