Drunken youngsters beat man to death

Imphal, December 26 2013:
Four drunken youngsters thrashed and killed a 52 year old man at around 7 pm of December 24 at Mayang Imphal Thana Mamang Leikai under Mayang Imphal police station, Imphal West district.
Laishram Modhumangol (52) s/o late Chaoba of Mayang Imphal Thana Mamang Leikai succumbed to the injuries the same night at a nearby CHC.
According to information received from family members, Modhumangol, wife Sakhi (50) and son Jeken (15) were returning home when they heard some youngsters making noises near their residential gate.
Modhumangol went inside a tea stall opened at his residential gate but run by another person and enquired what was the matter.
But the youngsters turned against Modhumangol and asked why he approached them.
Then they started thrashing the man ruthlessly.
Sakhi and Jeken intervened but they too were beaten.
The youngsters ran away only when people of the neighbourhood rushed out.
Modhumangol was rushed to Mayang Imphal CHC but he succumbed to the injuries.
In connection with the incident, police have pulled up two youngsters and that have been identified as Ningthoujam Abungcha (24) s/o Kalamu and Ningthoujam Kipgen (24) s/o Mani, both belonging to Mayang Imphal Thana Mamang Leikai.
They were arrested from Senapati bus parking (Khoyathong) this morning.
Another assailant identified as Sapam Naoba (24) s/o of Joy of the same locality is still at large while fourth accused could not be identified so far.
Meanwhile, local people dismantled the houses of Abungcha, Kipgen and Naoba yesterday afternoon.
