'My Everest Diary' released

After scripting a record breaking Mt Everest expedition by the climbers from the North East in the Summer of 2013, Dr L Surjit Singh, the team leader of the 1st North East India Top of the World Mt Everest Expedition on Monday came out with a book based on his personal memoir of the trip.
The 80 page multi-coloured book named "My Everest Diary" along with another book on folk tales of Manipur in Meitei (Mayek) script "Abokki Phunga wari Vol I (Grand mother's folk tales)" were formally released during a simple function here on Monday.
Commerce and Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam, who also holds the Veterinary and Animal Husbandry portfolios and Commissioner RK Nimai, who is also the secretary to the Governor were the chief guest and president at the book release function.
Dr L Surjit, who is the President of Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association (MMTA) told the media after the function that he had been dreaming of writing an adventure book since he joined the MMTA in 1983 .
Dr RK Nimai in his foreword said, "After going through the book, one will be able to visualise the travails of a mountaineer who attempts to scale the Mt Everest" .
It may be noted that three Manipuris, two each from Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim, one each from Mizoram and Meghalaya scaled the Mt Everest.
