State Cabinet approves corporatization of Power Department in principle

Imphal, December 26 2013:
The State Cabinet today approved the corporatization of State Electricity Department in principle, though the actual process would begin from February next year.
The decision was taken during a meeting of the State Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Okram Ibobi at his Secretariat at 9 am.
Talking to media persons after the meeting, the Spokesperson of State Government M Okendro said that the Cabinet thoroughly discussed the matter of corporatization of Electricity Department, and it was approved in principle.
The Cabinet also reviewed the Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS) in four valley districts of the State.
It also resolved that the DCs/ADCs concerned should complete the process for selection of priority households under the National Food Security Act, 2013 by January 15 next year.
Moreover, the required fair price shops would have to be constructed from the MLA's local area development funds in view of poor economic condition of the State, Okendro noted.
The Cabinet also prorogued the 6th Session of 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly and approved setting up of State Society for Management of Institute of Hotel Management.
