MPP celebrates 46 years of existence

The 46th foundation day of Manipur People's Party (MPP) was celebrated at the party's head-office near Imphal Pologround here today.
The party workers paid befitting tribute to the slain Vice-President Haobijam Manisana during the occasion.
A website of the MPP, www.manipurpeoplesparty.org was also launched.
Speaking on the occasion, President of MPP N Sovakiran said that Manipur People's Party is one of the oldest regional political parties of the Northeast.
It had formed government in the State for three terms, though short-lived.
The party had done so many remarkable works in the State while it was in power.
The party is not dead; it would soon get revitalized with the people's support, he asserted.

He further said that the Congress Party functions solely on the orders of its High Command and so its Government could not take up any work for the welfare of the people.
Had the MPP been in power, it would have arrested the culprits in Momoko incident and dismantled the border fence, the President averred.
Former Deputy Chief Minister Dr L Chandramani said that the time has come to recall all important works done by the MPP while it was in power.
The party needs to be strengthened further in order to serve the people.
Other leaders of the MPP, who attended the foundation day, also spoke on safeguarding the State's territorial integrity and slammed the Congress Party for misgovernance in the State.
