Awareness prog on Mother and Child Care held

The Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Imphal West in collaboration with AJAD Club under the aegis of Ministry of Youth and Sports, Government of India organized a day long awareness and educational programme on Mother and Child Care today at the Meitram Weavers' Co-operative Society Hall wherein 103 youth leaders including women participated.
The inaugural function of the programme was attended by L Tilotama Devi, vice-chairperson of NYKS, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt of India as Chief Guest; Th Inao Singh, Pradhan as President; Sahib Singh, zonal director NYKS Imphal and Memcha Devi, Member, Chajing Nagar Panchayat as Guests of Honour.
Addressing the gathering, L Tilotama stated that NYKS has been working for the left out and untouched youths in the rural areas by creating awareness and education through various flagship programmes of the Central Government and added that the time has come for the people to save a child with HIV born to a HIV+ mother.
She appreciated the efforts made by NUK Imphal for organizing such programme for the betterment of the youth and women and noted that the scientific approaches of improving the quality of health, hygiene and sanitation have to be made aware among the mothers.
As part of the programme, Tilotama also opened a three months Skill Upgradation Training Programme in Handicrafts for women at Nambol Mongjing Leikai in which 30 unemployed women will be participating in it.
