CM acknowledges people's talents

Chief Minister N Biren Singh has asserted that the people of the State are endowed with enormous talents and added "We need to harness these talents to bring inclusive development in the State" .
He was speaking at the closing session of a two-day discourse on the 'Present Status of Manipur Economy: Opportunities and Challenges' held today at the Centenary Hall of Manipur University, Canchipur.
Biren said that although Manipur is a tiny State, the State has topped in MSME business registration among the small States of the country.
More than one lakh individuals are being employed in the MSME sector, he added.
He said that the SHGs of hill districts are expanding their businesses under TRIFED and around 40 thousand people are being employed under the Van Dhan Vikas Karyakram of TRIFED.

Speaking about the Atmanirbhar Bharat, the Chief Minister stressed that the State Government has implemented various welfare schemes towards achieving self-reliance in various sectors such as fishery etc.
He mentioned that there is visible positive development in the State, in the last four years and a half.
The flagship schemes and programmes have been successfully implemented at the grassroots, he added.
MLA of Langthabal AC Karam Shyam, Vice-Chancellor of Manipur University Prof N Lokendro Singh, Prof E Bijoykumar Singh, experts and resource persons, scholars and students were present at the function.
It may be mentioned that the two-day discourse was organised by the Economic and Resource Development Organisation and Centre for Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy, Manipur University.
Later, a 15-member drafting committee for policy recommendation on the State's economy was formed with Prof E Bijoykumar of MU as chairman and Economic and Resource Development Organisation (ERDO) secretary Shanta Nahakpam as convenor.
