Cooch Behar Trophy : Manipur lead Sikkim by 250 runs

Manipur took a 250 run lead against Sikkim at the end of Day 2 after Jotin and Joyraj wrecked havoc to skittle Sikkim out for 187 runs in their first innings at Vikash Cricket Ground, Bhubaneswar in the ongoing Cooch Behar Trophy plate group competition.
Earlier, Manipur stacked up a total of 327 runs for 8 wickets at stumps on Day 1 (92 overs) yesterday riding on a ton by Jotin Pheiroijam (127 off 117 balls) and half century knocks by Suresh Singh (90 off 148 balls) and RK Herachandra (55 off 141 balls) .
The innings saw Ankur of Sikkim pick three wickets and skipper Tarun Sharma claim two wickets as Bijay, Karma Wangchuk and Purna shared a wicket apiece.
Despite two wickets left in the hand, Manipur declared their first innings and let Sikkim commence their innings which proved to be disastrous for them as they bundled out for a meagre 187 runs in 53.4 overs.
It was Manipur skipper, Jotin Pheiroijam (4-38 in 15.4 overs) and Joyraj (4/37 in 10 overs) who led the demolition of Sikkim's batting line up.
Vivekananda and Rojit also snatched a wicket each to add teeth to Manipur's bowling attack.
After the innings break, Manipur started their second innings and added 81 runs for 1 wickets in 20 overs.
Suresh Singh (35 off 76 balls) and RK Herachandra (23 off 23 balls) are unbeaten after Ulenyai's departure after collecting 19 runs to Purna of Sikkim.
It may be noted that Manipur have won two previous matches in succession against Mizoram and Meghalaya after losing by 145 runs to Arunachal Pradesh in the opening match.
