Imphal, November 18 2009:
The responsibility of preparing the Manipur Government Employees' List (MGEL) of all the Departments would henceforth be taken over by the Management Information System (MIS) of the Finance Department.
According to an official source, since 2006, the task of preparing the list of all the Government employees working under various Department, is being carried out by the National Informatic Centre (NIC).
However, the contract signed between the Government of Manipur and NIC in this regard would expire in January next year.
The NIC headquarters has also already reminded the State Government about the expiry of the contract.
However, instead of extending the three year long contract, the State Government has decided to hand over the task to the Management Information System of the Finance Department, the source disclosed.
While observing that in view of the involvement of NIC in many activities, the information related to MGEL is being upgraded on weekly basis most of the time, the source expressed optimism that in case the task is taken over by the Management Information System, then it would be able to upgrade the information on daily basis.
To ensure progress of the work, discussions are underway to recruit the required staff of the Management Information System, the source further disclosed.
To speed up the preparation of MGEL in the Education Dept which is considered to be one of the most problematic Depts, the Additional Secretary (Finance) has also written to the Commissioner of Education (S) for deputing a responsible officer who can provide detailed clarification explanation as and when required to the Directorate of Management Information System,
