Smart card at Churachandpur

Smart Card facility was launched at the District Transport Office (DTO), Churachandpur located at Tuibuong today.
The inaugural function of the District Transport smart card was graced by Phungzathang Tonsing Minister of Power, Horti & Sc.Tech, TN Haokip Minister of PHED/IPR/TSM and L Jayentakumar Minister of Transport, Education as the chief guest, guest of honour and functional president respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, T Phungzathang recalled that the transport smart card has been initiated during his tenure as Minister of Transport in 2006 .

The state is not lacking behind in IT, he said and expressed hope that launching transport smart card will surely benefit the security of the people of Churachandpur district.
He said, use of smart card in issuing driving licenses and registration certificates will prevent frauds from forging driving licenses.
The minister further observed that the DTO building should be made smarter.
If Churachanpur is described as the second town of Manipur next to Imphal West district, facilities to suit the description should also be given.
TN Haokip observed that Churachandpur is the second district which enjoys the smart card facilities after Imphal.
He said, the same facility would be launched in other districts soon.
Eighty fire extinguishers were presented to various government high schools located in Churachandpur District on the occasion.
Minister L Jayentakumar urged the public of the district to maintain peace and harmony so that developmental activities can be witnessed in times to come too.
Transport Director, Devesh Dewal was also present on the occasion.
M Songgel Youth Club, Tollen Cultural Troupe and Young Paite Association (YPA) Cultural Troupe, Zenhang Lamka have presented cultural dances on the occasion.
