Inner Line Permit System Demand Committee, Kangleipak today observed Permit System Deprivation Day in commemoration of the day Inner Line Permit System which was in effect in Manipur was abolished by an order of the then Chief Commissioner of the State on November 18, 1950 .
Attended by leaders of various civil organisations, the observance function held at Manipur Press Club here was graced by president of United Committee Manipur Yumnamcha Dilipkumar as chief guest, convenor of Inner Line Permit System Demand Committee Sapamcha Jadumani as functional president and eminent theatre director Birjit Ngangomba, ex-Minister RV Mingthing and advisor of FREINDS H Kula as guests of honour.
All those who spoke at the occasion stressed on the need for reintroducing Inner Line Permit System in the State to prevent influx of migrant workers in view of the present socio-economic and political condition.
Member of Manipur Human Rights Commission retired Col RK Rajendra and president of HERICOUN Rev Rehang Chothe were among the invitees who spoke and shared their views on the issue at the function.
