Along with formation of a JAC, a public meeting held at Khurai Lainingthou Awangba ground here today, in connection with the abduction of EE Thangjam Tomalchand and SO Mangi of Electricity Department, has decided to launch a series of agitations including stopping power supply in whole of Manipur.
Sit-in-protest demonstrations were also staged demanding safe release of the two abducted engineers at the ground as well as in front of the gate of Electricity Department at Keishampat today.

During the public meeting, a Joint Action Committee (JAC) christened as JAC Against the Kidnapping of Th Tomalchand and L Mangi was formed to ensure implementation of the other resolutions adopted.
The resolutions include to stop supplying of power to the people by the Electricity Department, imposition of indefinite bandh along Imphal-Ukhrul road and Khurai area, gheraoing Electricity Department and shut of its office and launching movement against the Minister until the armed UG group and the authority of the Electricity Department come to an understanding and ensure the release of the two abducted engineers.
On the other hand, in protest against the abduction of the two engineers and demanding their safe release, sit-in-protest demonstrations were staged in front of the gate of Electricity Department at Keishampat here as well as at the ground of Lainingthou Awangba, Khurai today.
Placards inscribed with wordings like 'Release abducted engineers immediately', 'Silence of the Department over the abduction is condemnable', 'Don't make scapegoats of the abducted engineers', 'Electricity Department should be responsible for any eventuality', etc were seen at the protest sites.
