Imphal, May 18 2023:
As normal movement of goods trucks resumed along NH 37 from Thursday, an oil tanker was damaged and the helper injured when a big boul-der fell upon the tanker truck in K Sinam area on Thursday.
The injured helper was rushed to RIMS hospital, where his condition is stated to be out of danger.
Police source said that the boulder fell due to nat-ural cause and not man-made.
Altogether 52 trucks includ-ing 20 oil tankers, 17 LPG bullet tankers and 15 trucks carrying other essential commodities entered Imphal through NH 37 (Imphal-Jiribam) on Thursday along with security convoy.
Meanwhile, Transporters and Drivers' Council (TDC) has appealed to people of all communities not to cause any disturbances to the transport-ers stating that the essential commodities they are carry-ing are meant for people of all communities.
Addressing a press meet at its office on Thursday, president H Ranjit informed that TDC is in regular contact with the government to ensure safe pas-sage of transporters.
The main reason for stopping service in the past few days is safety and security concern of the trans-porters, he said.
Informing that adequate se-curity measures are being taken up to ensure safe passage along NH 37, H Ranjit appealed to transporters stranded along NH 2 to take NH 37 route to enter Imphal.
He, however, asked the transporters to exercise caution while carrying out their services and further appealed to transporter bodies to refrain from issuing any statements, which might hurt sentiments of any community as it could lead to repercussion towards the drivers.
He further appealed to the government to enhance se-curity measures being taken up along NH 37 to prevent any unwanted incidents.
