Imphal, May 18 2023:
While highlighting the impact of ban on the in-ternet services and blockade along the National High-ways to functioning of all media houses, All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) and Editors Guild Manipur (EGM) have urged authorities concerned to re-store internet connectivity and clearance of highways.
In a letter to the Chief Minister submitted through the IPR minister, AMWJU president and EGM pres-ident stated that media houses are running out of news print and other printing materials due to blockade on the National Highways of Manipur by agitators while also high-lighting the hardship faced by media house, both print and electronics due to ban on internet services.
As of now several truckloads of newsprint are stuck at Mao, the letter mentioned.
The representatives urged authorities concerned to re-connect the internet service which was available at the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) and Manipur Press Club and also to lift the inter-net ban on media houses at least those with lease lines connection to enable them serve the public.
The AMWJU and EGM also cautioned the government of ceasing work if no visible action is taken immediately.
