Imphal, May 18 2023:
Four BJP MLAs, who earlier resigned from their re-spective administrative posts, in order to register their dissent against chief minister N Biren, have also joined the team of 34 non-Kuki MLAs in demanding non-extension of Suspension of Operation (So0) agreement signed with Kuki militants.
In a joint memorandum sub-mitted to union home minister Amit Shah, Langthabal MLA Karam Shyam, Heirok MLA Th Radheshy-am, Wangjing-Tentha MLA Pao-nam Brojen and Uripok MLA Kh Raghumani said that they were never informed about the meeting and signature campaign of MLAs regarding non-extension of So0 agreement with Kuki militants.
"We too share the same opinion with the people of Manipur regarding the demand for non-extension of So0 agreement with Kuki militants as this may challenge the uni-ty and integrity of Manipur," the memorandum said while seeking constant intervention by the union home minister to restore peace and normalcy in the state at the earliest.
Copies of the memoran-dum were also forwarded to the Governor, chief secretary and security advisor to the government of Manipur.
