Farmers training programme organised

A one-day farmers' training programme organised by United Youth Club was held at its Khangabok office premises in Thoubal district on Sunday.
The training programme was organised as a part of the month-long birth anniversary observance of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot and in continuation of the Club's cleanliness campaign.
Speaking at the programme, Gram Vikas, RSS, Thoubal president-cum-social worker Dr Khundrakpam Akoisana stressed on the need to promote organic farming over use of chemical fertilizers.
Stating that 80 per cent of the total population are farmers, he urged the food producers to adopt modern farming techniques as they more profitable and could bring about a revolution in organic farming in the state.
Agriculture Department OSD Thongam Jayprakash, APO Kh Nimaichand and ICM director K Joychandra attended the programme as resource persons.
In all, 80 farmers participated in the training programme during which sprayer pump sets were distributed to the farmers.
