Violent crimes increased in 2021 in state

After slight improvement in the year 2020, incidents of violent crime increased in Manipur in the year 2021 and the state registered 46 incidents of murder under IPC section 302 in the same year.
As per report of National Crime Record Bureau, Manipur witnessed highest ever incidents of violent crime in the year 2019 at 673 cases but violent crime incidents reduced to 506 in the year 2020.However, violent crimes increased to 545 in the year 2021 which included 46 related with murder, nine cases of culpable homicide and two dowry related cases.
When compared to the year 2019, murder related cases in the state improved slightly in the year 2020 and 2021 with both, the years registering 46 cases each.
Though majority of the murder cases in the state were related with revenge for personal enmity, one each case of political enmity and love/romance and three insurgency related cases were registered in the year 2021.Notably, there was no record of dowry related murder in NE states like Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Sikkim in the year 2021 .
However, Assam and Tripura respectively recorded 198 and 22 dowry related murder in the same year.
The National Crime Record Bureau report also mentioned that Sikkim had lowest incidents of violent crime in the year 2021 .
The state recorded 188 incidents of violent crime in the year 2019 and 125 in the year 2020 but the figure reduced to 109 in 2021.Assam had highest violent crime incidents in the year 2021 with 26,933 cases followed by Tripura with 1,637 cases.
Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Nagaland states respectively recorded 492, 580,186 and 158 incidents of violent crimes in the same year.
Among the violent crimes that happened in Manipur in the year 2021, 75 were related with kidnapping and extortion, 26 rape cases, 60 rioting cases, eight robbery cases and 27 arson cases.
In the same year, Assam recorded highest rape cases at 1,733 followed by Arunachal Pradesh with 83 cases, Meghalaya with 75 cases, Tripura with 61 cases, Mizoram with 26 cases, Sikkim with eight cases and Nagaland with four cases.
