DLSA Tamenglong organises legal awareness programme

Tamenglong, September 11 2022:
District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Tamenglong under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority today organised a 1-day Legal Awareness Programme at Longmai (Noney) Part-IV Peaceland Community Hall, Noney on the topics, "Domestic violence and its impact in our society", "Cyber crime" and "Land acquisition laws" .
The programme conducted under the sponsorship of Manipur State Legal Services Authority was attended by Dr Laishram Rina Devi, secretary DLSA Tamenglong; K Kazipmi, Assistant Commandant CRPF Noney; SI Khangshinglung Kamei, 2nd OC Noney PS; advocates, B Supriya Devi and I Lenibala Devi; Adai Dangmei, chairman Village Council Longmai Area; Ading Golmei, member Longmai Area Village Authority; Agui Kamei, secretary, information & publicity Rongmei Naga People's Organisation (RNPO); PLVs of Noney; senior citizens, police personnel and villagers of Longmai Part-IV, said a release issued by DLSA Tamenglong.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Laishram Rina Devi delivered a lecture on the topic, "Domestic violence and its impact in our society" .
Elaborating on "Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005", she stated that most of the domestic violence cases go unreported.
"Once we are aware of what amounts to domestic violence, cases of violence occurring within the family can be prevented to some extent", she added. Stating that domestic violence affects not only children but family members and the community as well, she urged all to report domestic violence cases to the authorities like Magistrate, Protection Officer, Service Provider and Police Officer in time to avoid any untoward incidents.
Resource persons, B Supriya Devi spoke on the topic, "Cyber crime" and I Lenibala Devi on "Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013" .
