CEO flags off team for postal ballot

Imphal, February 16 2022:
Manipur Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Rajesh Agrawal on Wednesday flagged off the postal team of Imphal East district to deliver and collect of postal ballot of absentee voters.
A total of 16 all-woman team consisting of two polling officers, videographers, a micro-observer and one Half-Section of armed security personnel each (one woman included) will visit all the 1524 electors who opted for Postal Ballot.
Speaking to the media during the flag-off function held at DC Complex, Porompat, Rajesh applauded the District Election Office for forming the all-woman team, which shows women empowerment and large scale participation of women in the electoral process.
ECI has always been encouraging maximum participation of women, he said and further added that for Manipur, this is the first time that postal ballots have been provided for absentee voters in any general elections.
He also wished the entire team success for this important exercise.
Meanwhile, DEO Kh Diana appealed to all stakeholders to give their full support to the exercise.
The flagging off ceremony was also attended by Imphal East SP M Pradip Singh, joint CEO Md S Daulat Khan, ADMs (imphal East) Shamim Ahmad Shah and Polem Lenin, and other DLOs.
The facility for voting through ballot paper is being imparted to Senior Citizens (AVSC), PwDs (AVPD) marked in Electoral roll and COVID-19 suspect or affected persons (AVCO) at their houses or place of quarantine/hospital.
For Imphal East, altogether 1524 electors which comprises 1254 AVSC and 270 AVPD voters will avail the service.
The schedule for house-to-house visit for 10 Assembly Constituencies in two rounds will be completed on February 25 .
The 10 ACs will go to the polls in the first phase on February 28 .
