Artistes of Kanglei Inat Thang-Ta Shindam Shanglen performed 'Maram Macha Khousa', a new production of the institute produced under the aegis of Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi, at KCDO Hall, Kongpal Chanam Leikai, Imphal East on Tuesday.
Imphal East Zilla Parishad up-adhyaksha Kshetri Tama and Kanglei Inat Thang-Ta Sindam Shanglen president Th Birachandra attended the occasion as chief guest and president respectively while Top Naoriya GP pradhan M Dinachandra and State Kala Akademi awardee L Ibocha Khuman were present as guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, L Ibungomacha, who directed the new production, explained that Ta Khousaba is a key component of Thang-Ta.
It is further divided into two components and Maram Macha Khousa is believed to be the Khousarol performed by gods and goddesses during the formation of the earth.
Thang-Ta is not only a martial art form but also a form of exercise to keep the performer healthy.
The art form is gaining popularity at the global arena and it is the responsibility of every indigenous person of the state to contribute towards promoting the art form further, he stressed.
