Eat Right walkathon / mela held

Imphal, June 29 2022:
Food Safety Administration, Imphal East organised Eat Right Walkathon cum Mela under the theme 'Eat Safe, Eat Healthy and Eat Sustainable' on Wednesday.
Imphal East DC Khumanthem Diana, SP M Pradip and Health Services director Dr K Rajo jointly flagged off the walkathon from the gate of the CMO Imphal East office at Porompat.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Diana informed that the walkathon cum mela has been organised as part of the nationwide Eat Right Challenge with the objective to create awareness on the importance of consuming healthy foods.
In his address, Dr Rajo referred to latest reports of the WHO and ICMR that 60 per cent of the people in the country do not take nutritious foods, which increase the prevalence rate of non-communicable diseases.
In the state too, high prevalence of diabetes and hypertension could be detected during the door to door check-up being taken up under Chief Minister's Health for All scheme, he said, while stressing the need for eating nutritious and balanced diets to stay healthy.
CMO Imphal East Dr L Indira, Food Safety Administration Imphal East's designated officer Th Sunilkumar and other officials attended the programme.
The walkathon passed through Lamlong Keithel, Telipati, Hatta, New Checkon, Nongmeibung traffic point, SBI traffic point and culminated at Soibam Leikai community hall, where the eat right mela was held.
NCC cadets, ASHA workers, school students, nurses, doctors and members of different organisations participated in the walkathon cum mela.
