Condemning sudden cancellation of the Indian army recruitment process by the Union defence ministry after completion of physical and health tests around a year back, the aggrieved candidates of the state who took part in the recruitment rally tried to storm the state BJP office here on Wednesday.
However, a police team managed to foil the protest and put the situation under control.
At about 12.20 pm, a large number of candidates, who took part in the recruitment rally, descended holding festoons and banners against sudden cancellation of recruitment rally and tried to storm the BJP office.
They attempted to meet state BJP leaders to lodge their complaint but a large team of police arrived soon and prevented the candidates from entering the BJP office.
A candidate, who took part in the protest, told media persons that a recruitment rally for entry into Indian army was held in March, 2021.After completion of physical and health tests, further process for the recruitment rally had stopped and candidates have been eagerly waiting for further process till date.
However, the Union defence ministry issued a notification on Tuesday cancelling the recruitment.
The notification also mentioned that candidates who are under 23 years could take part in the recruitment rally through Agnipath recruitment scheme, the candidate said, adding that sudden cancellation of the already commenced army recruitment rally is akin to spoiling the career of candidates who are above 23 years of age.
The candidate also said that they are not against the Agnipath scheme but the career of candidates, who are now above 23 years of years and were made to wait for more than one year, must not be spoiled.
