Naoriya candidates share thoughts

Candidates contesting the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election from Naoriya Pakhanglakpa assembly constituency in Imphal West district have shared their views and thoughts a set on a set of three questions raised by The People's Chronicle in an exclusive interview.
The questions are main reason for contesting election, the first work to be executed after getting elected and their vision for the state.
Four candidates are in fray from the constituency for the upcoming election after they cleared scrutiny and they are Soraisham Kebi Devi of BJP, Soibam Subhaschandra Singh of NPP, Soraisham Manaoton of INC and Konthoujam Manoranjan of JDU.
BJP candidate Soraisham Kebi Devi said her main reason for contesting election is to bring a peaceful and developedsociety through women empowerment and improvement of economic condition of women and pledged to introduce new schemes for improving economy of women and chalk out a roadmap for providing self job to youth.
Kebi also said she will give special emphasis on potential sectors to give job to maximum number of people to make economy of the state self-reliant.
In his reply, Subhaschandra said that he decided to contest election to bring a change in Manipur in view of the trust people of the constituency have in him due to his performance during his short tenure as an MLA.
He vowed to provide free education to students by improving government schools in the constituency and to upgrade PHC at Mekola to CHC and construct the SDO office at Hiyangthang.
About his vision for the state, Subhaschandra observed that drugs destroy youth and hence drug issue will be brought to an end.
He also promised to end corruption by working with commitment and dedication.
INC candidate Soraisham Manaoton told The People's Chronicle that he decided to fight election to fill up the developmental lacunae in the constituency, to revive the courageous Manipuri society, culture and identity and to take part in bringing solution to state issues.
Manaoton said that he will give special emphasis on improving drinking water facility, education, health, economy of women and road sectors.
About his vision for the state, Manaoton said Manipur was once regarded highly by other countries but this honour is now diminished due to distortion of history and other factors.
He then vowed to revive the honour by rectifying all the errors.
JDU candidate Kothoujam Manoranjan said that he decided to contest elec tion to fill up developmental lacunae in Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC and also to make the constituency one of the leading constituencies of the state.
Manoranjan promised to give special emphasis on agro based industries as 90 percent of population in Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC depend on agriculture.
On his vision for the state, Manoranjan vowed to bring an end to boundary issue and remove AFSPA from Manipur.
Apart from promising to give more emphasis on women reservation and improving condition of minorities, he also vowed to chalk out special policy for generating income for the general people to make the state rich economically.
