Crop Insurance Awareness Campaign concludes

District Crop Insurance Awareness Campaign for Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana which was launched on July 1 at DC Chandel Office as part of the Crop Insurance Week (July 1-7), concluded on Wednesday at Japhou Village, Chandel.
As part of the Crop Insurance Week, District Agriculture Department, Chandel had conducted awareness campaign at various villages.
To mark the insurance week, hoarding and banner campaign and mobile van campaign were also conducted to spread awareness among the farmers.
Speaking at the closing programme held at Japhou Village, district agriculture officer Ts Gladney Monsang emphasised on the need to enrol for crop insurance under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), which aims at covering the losses suffered by farmers due to reduction in crop yield as estimated by the appropriate government authorities.
She highlighted that the scheme also covers pre-sowing losses, post-harvest losses due to cyclonic rains and losses due to unseason-al rainfall in India and there is a provision to cover losses due to localised calamities such as inundation in addition to the previously covered hailstorm and landslide risks.
She continued that the registration for kharif season ends on July 31 and requested farmers to approach the District Agriculture Office (DAO).
During the programme, micro nutrient inputs were provided to the farmers under Soil Health Management scheme by the DAO.
The last day of the campaign was attended by 20 farmers along with Japhou assistant chief H Hemashing; Block DO in charge M Chandivi Tarao and BTM (ATMA) Tailyn Hrangbung and staff of DAO Chandel.
