Chief spokesperson of BJP State Unit, Ch Bijoy has stated that the State Government has not signed any agreement with the Committee on Protection & Preservation of Mount Koubru (COPPK) on Mt Koubru, as claimed by Congress.
Speaking to media persons, Ch Bijoy reasoned that the Government signing any agreement has to be done through the Chief Secretary or Commissioner concerned.
He also said that Mt Koubru is a reserved forest area where encroachment and construction of structures is prohibited.
The Government is also working to protect Mt Koubru, Marjing Thangjing Hill and other hills significant to the people under Manipur Ancient and Historical Monuments and Archeological Sites and Remains Act, Bijoy said.
These issues pertaining to Mt Koubru will end when the Congress stops instigating the stakeholders.
He further stated that the Congress cannot turn its back on the communal statement made by its member from Saitu AC .
