COVID-19 vaccine produced by India and being vaccinated to people to prevent spread of the virus under the aegis of the government of India does not affect the health of the people and it is able to prevent the disease, stated works minister Th Biswajit Singh.
A sensitisation programme on COVID-19 vaccine was organised by Thongju Part 1 Gram Panchayat in coordination with Voluntary Worker COVID-19 Relief Committee of Thongju, Thongju Kendra Gram Panchayat Level COVID-19 Task Force, local clubs and Meira Paibi at Sairom community hall on Wednesday.
Works minister Th Biswajit Singh, who also took part in the programme, said that people should not believe in rumours or fake news being spread about COVID-19 vaccination.
COVID-19 vaccination does not kill people but rumours are being spread far and wide that anyone vaccinated with COVID-19 would die, he noted and appealed to people not to believe the rumour but get vaccinated without any fear to prevent spread of the virus.
While informing that only 40 percent of the population of Thongju AC have been vaccinated so far, Th Biswajit said that a house-to-house survey would be conducted to identify those who are yet to be inoculated and make them aware about the importance of vaccination to stop the virus from spreading.
