Advocacy meeting on vaccination held

An advocacy meeting on Covid 19 vaccination with Imams, church leaders and temples and representatives of CSOs operating in Imphal East district was organised by State Health Society of National Health Mission, at Panchayat Bhavan, DC office complex, Porompat Wednesday.
Imphal East additional deputy commissioner Shamim Ahmad Shah, Chief Medical Officer Dr Jubilee Wahengbam and other officials of various government departments also participated in the meeting.
As resource persons of the meeting, State Immunisation Officer Dr T Manihar Singh and Family Welfare deputy director Dr Dineshwor Singh deliberated on the different modes and types of vaccination in India and the state, composition of the vaccination, corona virus and its genetic material, how it replicates inside the body, who should be vaccinated, adverse effect after immunization, etc.
The resource persons also talked about the myths and facts revolving around COVID-19 vaccine.
In his address, Shamim Ahmad stated that Imphal East district has been able to achieve 1.63 lakhs vaccination against the targeted total of 3.08 lakhs population above 18 years of age.
Everyday more than 25 sessions are being organised at various locations (at least one in each AC) under the assembly constituency-wise Mass Vaccination Programme in the district since June 21, he informed.
Addressing the participants, CMO Dr Indira stressed the need for maximum vaccination of the eligible beneficiaries and urged those gathered to prevail upon the masses in their respective areas to come out for the vaccination and help complete the target of total vaccination.
