Thaisii sets text book deadline

Education Minister DD Thaiisi has assured a joint delegation of four student organisations that text books will be available within June 15 .
An informed source said, the Education Minister held talks with representatives of AMSU, MSF, DESAM and KSA organisations on the text book shortage issue.
At the meeting, where officials of Education (Schools) Department and Board of Secondary Education Manipur were also present, DD Thaiisi informed that printing firms assigned to bring out the text books have started to deliver the books and within the specified date the entire printing works would be completed.
The source also disclosed of the Minister assuring to look into all relevant circumstances on failure to provide the text books in time for the previous academic session.
Thaiisi also reportedly revealed to the student leaders that printing of text books is already underway at Guwahati in order to complete the task ahead of the deadline.
On the other hand, Ministry of Human Resource Development Secretary Anshu Vaish chaired a meeting attended by officials of the State Government wherein it was decided to establish schools at different places of the State where there are still no educational institutions.
