Three youths who abduct woman without their consent held

Imphal, May 19 2011:
Three youths who allegedly involved in two separate cases of abduction of women (to be wife without their consents) were arrested by police and taken remands for investigation into the cases against them.
Police in Thoubal district arrested the three youths, Kabolambam Lukhoi (30) son of K Maimu of Arapti Shantinagar, Ningombam Naoba (27) son of Birachandra of Thongju Part-II and Ningombam Gandhi (41) of same locality with Naoba on Tuesday.
Lukhoi was arrested in connection with a case pending against him registered with Waikhong PS under section 366/366-A/368/34 (related with kidnapping) of IPC.
The case was related with alleged kidnapping of a 22-year old woman, a resident of Kakching Khunou, Thoubal district on March 22 last.
He kidnapped the woman as his wife without her consent and kept confined for 15 days at a house at Thongju.
She was set freed after an amicable agreement for marriage was reached between the parents of both sides.
However, the marriage ceremony was not performed on the fixed date, that is, on April 27, 2011 .
After the family of Lukhoi turned down the marriage, the woman lodged a complaint with the Waikhong police of Thoubal district, who arrested him as part of investigation, the source said.
The arrest of two others, Gandhi and Naoba, were arrested in connection with another case registered under section 366/368/406/493 (kidnapping of woman) of IPC of Waikhong PS.
The case was related with concealment of a 20-year old woman by Gandhi after she was taken as his wife.
The uncle of the woman lodged the complaint.
Gandhi with his friends, Naoba and others abducted the woman and kept concealed till date, the uncle of the woman hails from Thoubal Sabaltongba Leikai alleged.
