Students-Parents get-together

The first ever Students and Parents' get-together cum teachers' orientation programme, which would continue for three days under the joint aegis of Zeliangrong Students' Union, Longmai Area; Inpui Students' Union and Longmai Students' Union, has underway from today at the common ground of Noney (Longmai).
Students and teachers from seven different schools located in Noney area including a Government Higher Secondary School are participated in the get-together cum orientation programme which was inaugurated by Officiating Officer of 10 Assam Rifles Brig Ajei as chief guest, secretary of Thoubei Longmai Chungdi Kamei as functional president and principal of Tengkonjang Higher Secondary School Lansing Gangmei as guest of honour.
The function began with the opening song presented by students of Domini English School.
Speaking at the occasion, Brig Ajei described teachers as the living god and said that teachers have a great role to play in bringing about changes for the betterment in the society.
So, we should respect the teachers and the teachers should in turn dedicate themselves to the service of imparting quality education to the students who are the future pillars of the society.
Lansing Gangmei observed that for a better society, everyone in the society should be good and ready to do their best.
Similarly, for improving the education system, students, parents and teachers need to contribute their mite.
In continuation of the programme, various competitions like debate, quiz, extempore speech and song competitions held among the students of the participating schools.
On the second day of the programme tomorrow, an orientation programme for the teachers would be conducted wherein lecturers of DM College namely Khuraijam Dinesh and W Jyoti would present papers as resource persons to initiate discussion session.
The last day of the programme would witness distribution of prizes among the winners of various competitions.
A beauty contest would also be hosted to mark the occasion.
