AMUCO appeals

The All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) has made a general appeal to one and all not to call bandh on Manipur Integrity Day which is observed every year on August 4 and also requested all to extend help and cooperation for successful organisation of the Day.
While holding a media briefing in their office at Kwakeithel, the President of the organisation Dr Y Mani Khuman expressed that the 17th Manipur Integrity Day 2014 will be observed on August 4 and as part of the observance, floral tribute will be offered to the Integrity Pillar located near the entrance of Manipur Museum at 9 am and a hall meeting will be held at Manipur Dramatic Union hall, Yaiskul police lane just after post floral tribute.
The AMUCO President further made a general appeal not to organise bandh or general strike on the day and also appealed to all communities to participate in the said programme.
He then stated that observance of Manipur Integrity Day is a continuing programme of the mass rally of the people of Manipur held in 1997 on August 4 to safeguard the territorial integrity and boundary of Manipur which was under threat due to Naga peace talk in between NSCN (IM) and Govt of India.
He also recounted the incident of June 18 happened in 2001 in which 18 youths have sacrificed their precious lives for the very cause of the territorial integrity of Manipur and then appealed to all communities to come and join the programme and also extend help and support for successful organisation of Manipur Integrity Day 2014 .
During the media briefing, the Convener of the Observation Committee T Gandhi revealed that seven Finance Sub-Committees have been constituted in connection with observance of Manipur Integrity Day and urged the public to ask for money receipt even for donation of Rs 5 or 10 .
