More tourist destinations to come up in Andro: MLA Shyamkumar

The 5- day long 7th Pineapple Mela cum Youth Festival organized by Development Organization Andro Kendra concluded at Andro yesterday with the mela producing 5400 quintals of pineapple against 3400 quintals last year.
Speaking on the occasion as Functional President, Th Shyamkumar, MLA Andro A/C stated that there was a time when people used to feel insecure while coming to Andro but now the place has become an attractive tourist spot where even foreign tourists flocked in once they landed in Manipur.
The MLA informed that works for setting up of several more tourist destinations in Andro Kendra have been already started along with many other projects in the pipeline including construction of the Govindajee Temple.
He said that after the completion of the tourist destinations being set up at Kaina and Santhei National Park, Andro will become a hotspot of tourists.
Maintaining that the pineapple festival held every year has facilitated pineapple growers in the area in improving their livelihood, which is a good sign, he appealed to the public of Andro to show warm hospitality to visitors coming to Andro.
Attending as Chief Guest, Agriculture Minister Abdul Nasir informed that he has been discussing with the Chief Minister and the Deputy CM, who also holds the portfolio of Horticulture & Soil Conservation, to chalk out measures which will further enhance pineapple production in Andro.
The concluding function was also attended by S Sanathoi, project manager of Raj Medicity and Colonel D Vijay Singh Basera, CO of Assam Rifles Thoubal Post as Guests of Honor.
