Imphal, December 20 2021:
Students of Sagolmang Higher Secondary School are facing lots of inconveniences due to shortage of teachers, said Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) imphal East president Leisungbam Rajesh.
Speaking to newspersons on Monday, L Rajesh informed that a team of DESAM visited the school after receiving a complaint from the students.
Terming as distressful condition of the school, he pointed out that though the Government had issued an order for resumption of physical classes, the order is like mocking the students who are preparing for one of the biggest examinations in their lives.
Teachers for the subjects of mathematics, history, home science and physics have been transferred out of the school.
As such, none of the syllabi have been completed and one can only wonder how the students would be able to sit for the Council examination.
Furthermore, the school does not have separate bathrooms for boys and girls.
There is no vice principal, while the incumbent principal is set to retire in February next year.
Thus, he urged authorities concerned to appoint a vice principal at the earliest to take on the charge of principal in-charge.
Presently, the school has 187 students enrolled in Class XI (80 in Science stream and 87 in Arts stream) and 27 in Class XII (18 in Science stream and 9 in Arts stream), all of whom want to study.
Thus, Rajesh urged the government to appoint necessary teachers and refrain from indulging in favoritism by allowing the teachers to stay in postings of their choice, which is Imphal.
