One day UDID/Disability Certificate assessment camp organised

Spastic Society of Manipur has conducted a one day UDID/ Disability Certificate Assessment Camp at its campus located at Tapokpi Bazar , Langthabal Kunja to address the difficulties faced by Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) in obtaining the new Unique Disability Identity Card (UDID).
UDID is being implemented with a view of creating a National database for PwDs and to issue a Unique Disability Identity Card to every PwDs to encourage transparency, efficiency and ease of delivering the Government benefits through its various Ministries and the respective departments to PwDs and also to ensure uniformity, said a press release issued by the Spastic Society.
It may be noted that the Disability certificates which were issued by State Governments across the Country have been annulled from June 2021 as per a notification issued by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment , Government of India and subsequently majority of PwDs in the State are facing difficulties to avail the card due to the long process of online registration , Disability Assessment Process , lack of digital knowledge etc.
Hence the camp has been organised with an aim to ease the burden of PwDs and their family and to help them in registering in the UDID Portal easily following all the required process, added the press release.
The society also expressed gratitude to the Director , Deputy Director , Department of Social Welfare, the CMO of Imphal West and Imphal East and their respective UDID teams and the partnered NGOs and Disabled People's Organization (DPOs) for supporting the camp.
