Inferno destroys house of widow

Senapati, December 20 2021:
A house belonging to a widow at Etro, Tunggam Khullen village under Tadubi police station in Senapati district was completely reduced to ashes.
The incident reportedly occurred around 8.20 am on Monday.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
The fire burnt down some rice barns, two pigs, 9 locally made mats, utensils, etc.
Properties worth 5.8 lakh were destroyed by the fire.
The ill-fated widow has been identified as Yaorou, w/ o late Hrai Tasou of Etro, Tunggam Khullen village.
The villagers who rushed to the spot could do little to douse the flame as the village reportedly suffers from lack of proper water supply.
The nearest fire sub-station is located in the Senapati district headquarters, which is about 49 km away from the village.
The local residents of the village have appealed to the authority concerned for setting up an emergency water reservoir to meet any eventuality related to fire incident, a fire sub-station at Paomata centre and compensate the victim.
Meanwhile, Poumai Naga Students' Union (PNTM), Khumai (Tunggam) Union, Khumai (Tunggam) Khullen village, Khumai (Tunggam) Women Society, Khumai (Tunggam) Youth & Students' Organization (KYSO), Tunggam Afti village, Tunggam Makufii village, Paomata Centre, different churches and well -wishers visited the ill-fated family.
