Kangpokpi, December 20 2021:
Demanding justice for the trio, Hentinseh Singsit, Henminlun Misao, and Seigoulun Singsit, who were arrested in connection with B Gamnom Killing, Kakai Singsit, former leader of ATSUM began a 'Fast Unto Death' hunger strike at his residence in Motbung on Monday.
Speaking to media persons, Kakai Singsit stated that it may not be ideal to protest with Christmas around the corner but under the current circumstances it will be impossible for the family members to celebrate Christmas.
"Three of our family members, Hentinseh Singsit, Henminlun Misao and Seigoulun Singsit are still languishing in Sajiwa Jail for the past two months for a crime they did not commit or for a crime they are not even remotely connected", he asserted.
Kakai continued that with little option left, he decided to carry out the hunger strike to show their strong resentment, indignation and unhappiness and demand justice for the trio.

"We had high expectations that the various civil society organizations in the state, especially related to human rights, will stand with us given the fact that the three of them are innocent beyond doubt and spearhead the fight for justice but sadly our expectations were belied", he added.
Kakai pointed out that Hentinseh Singsit was at New Life Rehab centre, Imphal when the firing incident occurred at B Gamnom village while adding that Mangsat Haokip who was touted by the police as the linchpin of the whole firing episode was in Sajiwa Jail since August 11, 2021 .
He then accused the police of unprofessional conduct and making false claims riddled with lies and fabrications without cross checking their claims beforehand.
"On Seigoulun's Singsit minor status, the Supreme Court's Judgment on juvenile offenders (ref Delhi High Court Division Bench, Court on its Motion VS Dept of Women and Child Development and other, 2012) was brazenly ignored by the police department", said Kakai while alleging that for some unknown reason, all the strictures of Supreme Court were contemptuously thrown to the wind by the police.
He alleged that ossification was done hastily without even trying to contact the family on the pretext of paucity of time.
"We also met the family of the deceased and asked them if they have any inkling of the involvement of the trio in the firing incident.
They were emphatic that the police had arrested the wrong persons", he asserted.
Questioning the silence of the local MLA even after the lapse of two months, he asked, "if the MLA cannot stand for truth and fight for innocent people of his constituency what is the meaning of his contesting election?" "I may be down but I am not out, I will fight for justice for the innocent trio", Kakai Singsit concluded.
